"Schlaak! The pick ax hit the wall of earth and, sparking on an unseen shard of flint, sank deep into the clay, coming to a sudden halt with a dull thud.
"This could be it, Will!"(page #2)
"Tunnels" by Roderick Gordon, and Brian Williams is a thrilling adventure that kept me on the edge of my seat! It takes place in modern-day London, following the life of Will Burrows, a 14 year old boy whose obsession is archaeological digs. Will doesn't share very much in common with his family, but both he, and his father have a mutual amazement with tunneling. The book started off a little boring for me, but not too far in Will's father vanishes. Will and his friend Chester must then undergo a series of obstacles to travel deeper into the darkness below. Soon secrets, and betrayel become evident and the story unravels. I really love this book because it makes the reader feel like they're actually deep down in a cave looking for something in the darkness. Alot of the time I actually feel claustrophobic!
